Love is like a cake

its got lots of layers

some sweeter than others

but they come together to form

a delightful experience

I lay here in bed

listening to the bustle of the city,

taking in the tranquil hum

and as I look out the window

a distant plane glides across the sky

and then a humming bird

peaks from around the corner

as if to greet me

I acknowledge it

and just as fast as it showed up

it disappears

A life without you would be unbearable

pain-stricken days would be never-ending

The thought alone makes me sick to my

stomach

more dreadful than the darkest, murkiest depths of the sea.

where the ugliest most dangerous

critters abode…

And yet the possibility could go down

a different path. If only I had a lifetime by your side.

An alternate world would be created.

A place where unicorns run wild and

butterflies fill the air. From end

to end roses are blooming, giving

off their sweet smell. Where babies

laughter brings joy to all those

around. A magical place where fire-

works spark every time we kiss.

But sadly…reality kicks in

and my dreams are consumed

by flames. The ashes, blown away

with the wind. And all that’s left

behind is the scarred vegetation.

Left to heal on its own for

years and years to come.
